When natural disasters occur, it makes it all the more apparent that homeowners are underinsured for the protection they need. Because things like earthquake and flood require separate coverage, most homeowners opt out because this coverage has not been needed in the past. Studies show that homeowners can be swayed to opt in on these additional coverages especially if they are at a higher risk if properly informed.
